The funeral is an important opportunity to pay tribute to someone you loved. It is a time for relatives and friends to gather tell stories, to share memories, to acknowledge your loss and support one another. We are open-minded in providing a more personal arrangement to suit your needs and reflect the life of your loved one.
We've worked hard to make the surroundings as comforting as possible, for you during this difficult time. To take a virtual tour of our funeral home click here. http://www.gotyoulooking.com/1jscott/mht.html
Our visitation rooms are amoung the largest available, without feeling empty or barren. In keeping with the goal of our funeral home, we aim to make you feel as comfortable and at home as possible during your family's time with us. Not ostentatious or overwhelming, we have decorated our rooms much as you might your own home, for function and comfort. Updated just this year with new accessories, accents and furniture, the rooms are more comfortable and welcoming than ever before.
Our rooms are also very versatile. We are more than happy to re-arrange and re-configure the rooms to accommodate your individual needs... whether you are anticipating a large group of visitors, or an intimate gathering of family, we will prepare the room to suit your needs.
The front room of the funeral home serves as a gathering place as well. It is here that you may have the opportunity to speak with one of our staff, make a donation to the families requested charity, or take time to look at some of the literature we have available.
Just inside our James Street entrance is the foyer area where our staff will meet you.
Comfortable Visitation Rooms
Providing a space for family and friends to gather is important. Our aim was to keep our rooms as homelike as possible.
Spacious and Adaptable
Our main visitation area is more than spacious enough for most families. For smaller gatherings, the room can be divided to provide a more intimate feel.
Although our chapel is not intended to compete against the reverence and respect of the church, it has been tastefully designed as an option for those who do not wish a formal church setting. Updated decor in 2007 has made the room warmer and more conducive to its purpose.
Our seating capacity is 125 in the chapel itself, with adjacent rooms available for additional chairs.
Entirely non-denominational, our chapel provides an alternative for those who prefer a central location. Our seating is also not fixed, which means that we can remove chairs, and add visitation space for those who may be having a smaller service or we can turn the seating to face any direction in order to accommodate your religious preferences.
With seating that is entirely portable, we can tailor the room to meet your family's specific needs.
Our reception lounge can provide a convenient setting for a time of fellowship and light refreshments after the funeral service. This is a particularly thoughtful gesture to those who must travel some distance after the funeral.
Although the lounge is located on our lower level, it is fully accessible to those who cannot manage stairs and is also equipped with washroom facilities.
A section of the reception facility
Our reception room is homey and comfortable, and can accommodate groups from 20 - 100 easily.
Redecorated in 2007, historical photos of Milton and the surrounding areas grace the walls.
Scott Early established his funeral home in 1987... In honour of the 20th anniversary of the business, we have begun a re-decoration and re-dedication of the lounge area. Of course, our 20th anniversary also coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Town of Milton. To honour the Town and the surrounding areas... we are creating a display of historical photos and memorabilia. A dedication day and anniversary celebration will be announced soon. Please check back for updated photos!
The coffee lounge provides a welcome break to collect your thoughts, or reminisce with others. A selection of tea, coffee, decaffienated coffee, expresso, mochachino, and hot chocolate is always ready and waiting for you. Cold drinks are also available. We would like to feel comfortable when receiving friends and family at the time of loss. Our home is yours. Our staff will ensure that your family and friends are treated with the hospitality that you would extend in a less difficult and emotional time in your own home.
Our lounge also features artwork supplied by Milton's own artists. A variety of styles and works are displayed and are available for purchase. We welcome additions to this collection at any time.
As with all our rooms, the coffee lounge and adjacent washrooms are fully accessible to all.
Our lounge features a combination of seating and tables in the reception area, and more relaxed seating for reading or gathering your thoughts.
Our reception room remains open during visitation to allow visitors a chance to have a quiet cup of coffee or tea. There are several comfortable spots to sit, rest and visit.
The J. Scott Early Funeral Home provides space for all of your family's anticipated needs. There are washrooms accesible to all on each level, and a baby changing centre for your convenience.
One of our nicest rooms is our children's play room. Not just a corner of the adults lounge, or a designated spot with a toy or two - our children's room has a multitude of toys for all ages, a selection of children's movies on VHS and a playstation for those so inclined. Quite often, the Hunter's son, seven year old Jake, will be found here during visitation. He enjoys helping the younger children find something to play with, or putting on a movie for them.
We also offer the kids a selection of books, some of which are grief based which may be useful for a parent to share with them during a time of family bereavement. Colouring books talking about funerals and customs are also available.
A bright and sunny room equipped with toys, books and movies for varying age groups.
This space is generally used when making funeral arrangements with our families. We'll have some coffee or tea, and go through all of the necessary details with you. This room is adjacent to those that accommodate the caskets and urns for your convenience.
A space for everything
At the J. Scott Early Funeral Home, our rooms are very versatile, and we will find a way to arrange them to suit your very unique needs. A quiet corner can be just what is needed sometimes.
Located off of Main Street in Milton, the J. Scott Early Funeral Home has ample parking available in a safe, well lit parking lot. With room for approximately 50 cars, the parking lot is more than spacious and has two separate entrance and exit points on James and Mill Streets. In addition, unlimited street parking is available in our area. Handicap parking is also designated adjacent to our access ramp at the side entrance.
We fully realize that being inside the funeral home can be difficult for some - and that's why we try our best to keep an attractive and welcoming garden during the season. The fountain and pond is just outside our chapel door and as elsewhere on the property we have a combination of perennials and annuals to create our garden.
